Call for Entries
In 2019, the 180th anniversary of the invention of photography, the Shanghai Museum of Camera and Photography (SHAMoCP) initiated the "Light Runner 180" International Film Photography Art Exhibition," showcasing more than 100 prints made by photographers from all over the world using silver salts and traditional techniques.
Time flies. This year marks the 185th anniversary of the invention of photography. With the strong support of the Government of Beicai Town, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, SHA MoCP is launching the "Light Runner 185" "Lianxi Cup" International TraditionalHandmade Photography Art Exhibition.
This event is a partnership with several organizations (e.g., Austria's WestLicht Museum for Photography, Japan's Department ofPhotography and Imaging Arts of the Faculty of Art and Design at Kyushu Sangyo University) and media. Judges from home andabroad will pick 50 winners. Apart from the cash prize, their prints will be exhibited at SHA MoCP in November 2024 and could be auctioned by the Sungari International Auction.
This is a meaningful year to honor the history of photography. The call for entries kicks off on June 14. Welcome to join us!

Rules
(1) Any photo art creator who uses traditional chemical imaging techniques is welcome, regardless of his or her age or nationality.
(2) The main materials should be processed with traditional chemical imaging techniques (e.g., black and white negative film, colornegative film, instant film, dry plate, wet plate, silver plate). The production should use traditional silver salt, a handmade print process, etc. Creative methods that use multiple techniques are encouraged. Using digital technology in some steps is allowed.
(3) Each applicant can submit up to 8 single prints or 2 groups of prints (between 8 and 16 prints in each group).
(4) Please describe the theme, shooting, and production technique in up to 800 words.
(5) For film-based prints, the physical submission of a sample is preferred; please make the size between 6 and 10 inches, without aframe.Physical submissions will not be returned to the applicants. For large handmade prints, a digital reproduction is acceptable;please keep the length under 2,000 pixels in JPEG format. There will be 50 award-winning prints (or groups of prints). Winners willbe instructed on how to prepare the print and mail it before the deadline. Frames will be provided by the organizers. If the winnerexpects to take the print back, please specify. The prints will be mailed from March 2025 onwards, after the exhibition closes, and the mailing fee will be paid by the winner.
(6) Applicants should create prints by themselves, commit no plagiarism or infringement, and not violate relevant laws or regulations. Applicants should hold the copyright to the prints as well as the portrait rights of the people in the prints.
(7) Winners are aware that the organizers may showcase their prints on multiple platforms and use them in exhibitions, brochures, mediareports, online and offline events, etc. before the prints are mailed back to the winners, and the winners won't receive payment for these activities.
